Thailand NRCA Organizes Cybersecurity Preparedness Exercise for CA Operators under the Theme "Trust Beyond Cyber Threats: Every Era Faces Threats; This Era Must Be Ready!
The Thailand National Root Certification Authority (NRCA), under the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), has been continuously supporting and promoting Certification Authorities (CA) in Thailand for over 15 years to enhance cybersecurity capabilities.
On November 25, 2024, Thailand NRCA conducted a special event titled "Cyber Exercise for Certification Authority (CA) 2024." This activity took place at the National Telecommunications Building in Bangkok and aimed to improve the preparedness of Certification Authorities (CA) to address cybersecurity threats, thereby ensuring trust and confidence among users worldwide.
The event included a Table Top Exercise (TTX), a realistic simulation designed to prepare participants for potential future cybersecurity threats. The exercise covered essential areas, including updates on CA trends and technologies in Thailand and internationally, analysis of the latest cyber threats, and lessons learned from real-world incidents. Emphasis was placed on preparedness in all aspects, from threat detection and response to preventing system damage.
Mr. Pornprom Prapakittikul, Senior Executive Officer at the Information Security and Infrastructure Center of ETDA, stated, "The Thailand NRCA project plays a crucial role in enhancing Thailand's cybersecurity by continuously supporting Certification Authorities (CA). We have seen a steady increase in the establishment of new CAs to meet growing demands and ensure trust in the digital ecosystem. A vital part of this initiative is the integration of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technology with CA systems to enhance security, reliability, and efficiency in the cyber domain.
During this event, we conducted a Table Top Exercise (TTX) to build readiness against cyber threats. Such unexpected incidents cannot be foreseen, so it is essential to simulate scenarios to help executives and staff understand systematic responses, whether in detection, response, or problem-solving. Today's exercise is not just about preparation; it is also an opportunity to learn collaboratively, understand each party's role, and ensure that Thailand's CA system can stand strong on the global stage."
Thailand NRCA remains committed to developing and promoting the use of electronic certificates in Thailand while enhancing infrastructure and cybersecurity. Interested organizations and the public are invited to participate in future training and activities. For more details, please visit www.nrca.go.th
