D-Day on December 4th – The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE) leads the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) and the Ministry of Education (MOE) in collaboration with UNESCO to announce their joint hosting of the global event, "The 3rd UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of AI 2025."
Mr. Prasert Chanruangthong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society, revealed that the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE) in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI), the Ministry of Education (MOE), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will host a press conference for the “Official Launch Event for the 3rd UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of AI 2025: Ethical Governance of AI in Motion” and “Thailand’s Artificial Intelligence Readiness Assessment Methodology” on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the InterContinental Bangkok Hotel. This event will announce the collaboration between Thailand and UNESCO as co-hosts of the UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of AI 2025, marking its third year. This year’s forum will be held under the theme "Ethical Governance of AI in Motion," emphasizing Thailand’s readiness to take a leadership role in advancing ethics in AI governance and fostering sustainable international recognition in the application of AI.
The event will be graced by leaders and executives from both Thailand and abroad, such as Mr. Prasert Jantararuangtong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Professor Wisit Wisitsora-At, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, Professor Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Ms. Soohyun Kim, Regional Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok, who will deliver keynote speeches on the readiness for the event and share their perspectives on the future of AI ethics on the global stage.
Additionally, the press conference will highlight Thailand’s commitment to applying AI ethically in accordance with UNESCO’s AI Readiness Assessment (UNESCO RAM) framework, which is internationally recognized and has been adopted by many member countries in line with their specific contexts.
